1. If Roller Blinds are what you have decided to go for, just make sure that you clean it regularly so that no dirt gets to settle for long ensuring a squeaky clean look all around the clock. For that pristine look get a mild dishwashing soap and dilute a tablespoon in four cups of water. Next, take a sponge or a brush with soft bristles and dip it in the mixture. Now dab it on the stains and scrub gently. Once the stains are gone, run a damp cloth over the blinds and let them dry naturally. Rigorous scrubbing is not recommended since that can cause more damage than good.

2. Your love for Venetian Blinds can set you off with a little bit of hard work. It needs weekly maintenance and needs to be vacuum-cleaned at least once a month. Ensure that you run the nozzle of the vacuum cleaner over each slat to get rid of the last particle of dirt. Now one side is done reverse the slats to repeat the same process on the other side. Make sure to work your way from top to bottom for a completely cleaned look. In case you cannot stand the noise of the cleaner, get yourself a pair of cotton gloves to repeat the process manually.

3. For your Plantation Shutters keep the cleaning process simple and easy. Do not use any harsh chemicals or cleaning solutions, rather scrub gently with a wet cloth and use your vacuum cleaner, if need be. Repeat the process every week to ensure that there are no stubborn stains or left-over grime. Make it a point to clean the spaces between the flanks of the shutters since these are the places where grime tends to accumulate more. The location of the shutters is also an important consideration. If placed in the kitchen they will be greasier or in the dining area or children’s room, it could get dirty quite fast so accordingly the cleaning schedule has to be chalked about. Once a week cleaning is however the ideal and recommended option.

 4. Cleaning the Roller Shutters or Awnings is a wee bit tricky as it is situated outside and accumulates most of the debris and dirt from the external environment. First, roll down the shutters completely and get rid of the top layer of dirt with the help of a broom or a piece of dry cloth. Now use a dilution of detergent and water to wipe off the remaining dust from the surface of the shutters. Once you have done it, use a manageable water jet or a hosepipe to wash away the residual grime along with the soapy water.

 5. Known for their versatility and simplicity the Vertical Blinds or Panel Glides are the easiest to clean. All that you need to do is clean it regularly with a dry cloth to ensure that no dirt settles on it for more than a day. You can alternately use the vacuum cleaner. In case you come across stubborn stains a mixture of lukewarm water with mild detergent could be quite effective in removing the grime. Instead of wiping the soapy residue let it dry on its own to make it last for a longer period of time.

 Bottom line

Whatever be the make or the material of your blinds and shutters, you must ensure that it remains clean and for that, it is best to either clean them on a regular basis or do it over the weekend. Remember they are the windows to a cleaner ambiance in your enclosure that makes you breathe freely and keep you healthy for long.
